Call
Not the most dangerous creature on Deimos, nor the rarest. But certainly one of the most useful.
Son

Velocipods are large flying insects that roam the Cambion Drift. These docile creatures are passive towards players and can be ridden in a similar manner to K-Drives. They can also be tranquilized and captured for Conservation purposes.

General[edit | edit source]

Velocipods can be found flying and hovering around the Cambion Drift. Usually sluggish and slow moving, they are capable of performing moderate bursts of speed when they feel threatened.

Despite living on one of the most hostile planets in the Origin System, Velcipods are actually docile creatures, and will allow others to mount and ride them; Proof that not everything on Deimos seeks to kill.

Subspecies[edit | edit source]

A sluggish highlands insect that's capable of bursts of speed when threatened.

A common Velocipod subspecies. Purple Velocipods can usually be seen around the Undulatum region, although they are also known to occasionally venture widely into the surrounding regions. They can sometimes be spotted right at the base of the pathway leading to the Necralisk.

When captured via Conservation, they will reward the following:

Perfect Good Bad
3x Purple Velocipod Tag 2x Purple Velocipod Tag 1x Purple Velocipod Tag

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Velocipods do not glow or emit a beep when using the Tranq Rifle.
  • While riding a Velocipod, K-Drive affinity and Ventkids standing is gained.
  • Purple Velocipod tags are required to craft the Helminth Upgrade Segment.
  • It is possible to get knocked down if the player stands too close to a Velocipod's wings.
  • When navigating through the Cambion Drift, if a Velocipod spawns, you will hear the faint sound of wings flapping.
  • You can turn on the Accessibility option "Ally Highlight Color". Velocipods are marked as allies and can be spotted a lot easier with this option enabled.
  • Using a Sleep ability, such as Ivara's Sleep Arrow, or Equinox's Rest & Rage, will allow you to ride the Velocipod. Using the Tranq Rifle will allow you to capture the Velocipod instead. If the Tranq Rifle is used on a Sleeping target, you must wait for the Sleep effect to fade before you can capture the target.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The name Velocipod may be a combination of the words velocity and arthropod.
